I have been thinking ...

A Nice 'Doha' from kabir. He is amazing ..

I have been thinking ...
I have been thinking of the difference between water
and the waves on it.
Rising, water's still water,
falling back, it is water,
will you give me a hint how to tell them apart?

Because someone has made up the word"wave,"

do I have to distinguish itfrom water?
There is a Secret One inside us;

the planets in all the galaxies pass through his hands like beads.
That is a string of beads one should look at with luminous eyes.

Attitude towards work

Today while I was crawling through the web, somehow reached a good spirited spider's den. There was a beautiful article from which, I would like to quote about attitude towards work

Three stonecutters were engaged in erecting a temple. An HRD Consultant asked them what they were doing. The response of the three workers to this innocent-looking question is illuminating: -

'I am a poor man. I have to maintain my family. I am making a living here,' said the first stone-cutter with a dejected face.
'Well, I work because I want to show that I am the best stone-cutter in the country,' said the second one with a sense of pride.
'Oh, I want to build the most beautiful temple in the country,' said the third one with a visionary gleam.

Their jobs were identical but their perspectives were different. What the Gita tells us is to develop the visionary perspective in the work we do. It tells us to develop a sense of larger vision in our work for the common good.

About a Good Article
Today I happen to read an article by Margaret Wheatley. In the article she explains how our disturbances are actually gift to us. The link to the article is http://www.margaretwheatley.com/articles/pleasedisturb.html. Would like to Quote a paragraph from it

"In graduate school, I had one professor who encouraged us to notice what surprised or disturbed us. If we were surprised by some statement, it indicated we were assuming that something else was true. If we were disturbed by a comment, it indicated we held a belief contrary to that. Noticing what disturbs me has been an incredibly useful lens into my interior, deeply held beliefs. When I'm shocked at another's position, I have the opportunity to see my own position in greater clarity. When I hear myself saying "How could anyone believe something like that?!" a doorway has opened for me to see what I believe. These moments of true disturbance are great gifts. In making my beliefs visible, they allow me to consciously choose them again, or change them."

A Nice article worth read.

A Different view of suffering

We all have been suffering all along our life in one way or the other. I am speaking about the common man and excludes the blissed souls, which are consciously in a much elevated state. But I think, the suffering has to be seen as an opportunity to realize ourselves. I mean to say that, if we listen to our inner voice in finding the solution to the day to day problems, the effort taken itself is going to elevate our self to be in a better conscious state. The very unselfish decision which we take in solving the problem will help us know more of our self. Each problem we face in life is a divine opportunity to understand our self, the God in us. Its a chance to converse with God. The most important lessons of life are learnt during the toughest times of our lives. On the other hand, if we manage the the problem, with our selfishness, we are moving in the reverse direction. We are turning our back to an opportunity which existance has given us to be a better human being. In doing so, we are adding more misery to us. So the choice is ours...
